Due to weather conditions on Sunday, the Henderson State softball team finished the second game of it's double-header with East Central in Great American Conference action, defeating the Tigers 3-0 at Dee White Field on Monday.
The game picked up in the bottom of the sixth inning, as HSU(13-15, 4-12 GAC) added one run when
Keirsten Seahorn blasted a single to left field scoring
Caroline Cullins.
HSU fell in the first full game on Saturday 4-2, giving up nine hits while connecting with the ball just twice themselves.
In the bottom of the first inning, HSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead after
Destiny Garza cranked out a 2 RBI single to center field, allowing Seahorn and
Ashlyn White to score.
East Central(10-13, 7-5 GAC) would respond in the top of the third adding one run as Sydney Dow scored Taylor Davis on an RBI out to right field.
Neither team would score through the next two innings before ECU's Bre Davis homered over the center field wall in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.
In extra innings, East Central tacked on two runs in the top of the eighth after a double from Lauren Reeves and a single from Ellanee Allison scored two runners.
Michelle Sorensen picked up the loss for HSU, falling to 8-7 on the season while Sydney Dow was awarded the win for ECU improving her record to 2-0.
Game two of Monday's double-header went the way of the Reddies, as HSU responded with a 4-3 victory to even the series.
The Reddies cranked out 11 total hits, and forced two ECU errors while limiting the Tigers to six hits.
HSU tacked on two runs in the first inning off of back-to-back hits from Seahorn and
Alexia Lopez that scored
Courtney Warren and Cullins.
The Tigers answered with a run of their own in the second inning, before HSU added two more runs in the fourth after a scoreless third inning.
Ashlyn White got things moving in the bottom of the fourth with a single to left field with the bases loaded that scored
Rebekah Teel from third.
Immediately after White's hit, Seahorn followed with one of her own that plated Warren from third to send the Reddies up 4-1.
The comeback attempt for ECU in the top of the sixth inning fell just short, as the Tigers could only score twice on a Jordynn VanPel home-run, but
Madison Calvert was able to seal the deal from the circle to improve to 5-7 on the season.
