Henderson State could not get on track offensively as the Reddies dropped a double-header to Arkansas-Monticello losing 6-3 and 10-3, Saturday in Monticello.
The Reddies, 11-15 overall and 8-6 in the Great American Conference, totaled 12 hits in the two games, while the Boll Weevils collected 10 hits in each contest.
UAM, 15-7 and 8-3, got a key two-run homer by Brian Ray in the fifth-inning of game one to set the tone for the Boll Weevils.
The Boll Weevils increased their lead to 6-0 in the seventh with the help of a RBI double by Nick Cerda.
Starting pitcher Zach McKnight held the Reddies in check for seven innings and had a no-hit shutout heading in to the eighth.
The Reddies would put together three hits and score three runs in the inning with
Tadarious Hawkins supplying a two-run single.
Hayden Lessenberry also had a RBI single in the frame, but relief pitcher Chad Bradford would retire all four batters he faced to secure the win.
Luke Tebbetts pitched six innings for the Reddies and was tabbed with the loss falling to 2-2.
Henderson took a 3-0 lead in the third-inning of game two as
AJ Kruzel would drive in a run with a double to right field followed by a run-scoring single by Lessenberry.
UAM scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning with the big blow being a three-run blast by Travis Steinke.
Corey Wood increased the UAM lead to 6-3 in the fourth with a two-run homer while Ray homered in the sixth to score two more runs.
Kruzel,
Jordan Taylor and
Turner Sparks had two hits each for the Reddies in the game.
Zach Eschberger suffered the loss falling to 4-3 on the year.
The two teams will finish the three-game series Sunday in Monticello with the first pitch set for Noon.
