Henderson State lost for the second consecutive time as Ouachita Baptist beat the Reddies 76-60, Monday at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia.
OBU, 8-5 and 6-3 in the Great American Conference, shot nearly 50 percent from the field making 23-of-47 attempts including nine 3-point field goals.
Henderson, 11-4 overall and 6-3 in the GAC, finished making 22-of-55 shots for 40 percent shooting from the field.
Henderson built an early 14-6 lead behind a pair of dunks by
Brad Nairn, a 3-point bucket by
Toney Foster and a conventional 3-point play by
Matt Panaggio.
However, the Tigers outscored Henderson 31-12 the remainder of the half with
Kevin Kozan being the main scorer for the Reddies during the stretch hitting three 3-point field goals.
The Tigers entered the break with 37-26 lead.
Ouachita Baptist continued to extend its lead to begin the second half as the Tigers would lead by as many as 17 at 52-35 with 14:00 to play.
Henderson began to climb back into the game cutting the deficit to 57-49 at the 9:48 mark as the Reddies went on a 12-3 run with Foster and Kozan again leading the charge, each scoring a pair of buckets.
That was as close as Henderson would get as the Tigers would hold off the Reddie comeback with the help of making 21-of-26 free throws.
Kozan finished the game with 17 points while knocking down 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc.
Foster scored 13 points, while Nairn and
Chris Hawkins followed with 10 points each.
Isaiah Harper recorded a double-double for the Tigers with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Justin McCleary leading OBU in scoring with 17 points.
The Tigers outrebounded the Reddies 36 to 26 with Hawkins leading Henderson with 5 boards.
Henderson State will next travel to Russellville on Thursday to face Arkansas Tech with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
