Women's basketball looks for fifth-straight Battle of the Ravine win

The Henderson State women's basketball team takes the shortest road trip in DII basketball tonight, when it crosses the street looking for its fifth-straight win over rival Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 p.m.

Series:
The all-time series between Henderson and OBU is incredibly tight, with the Reddies holding a slight advantage, 38-37. Henderson has won the last four meetings in a row, including both games last season, and six of the last seven meetings overall.

Henderson State Notes:
The Reddies enter tonight's contest 6-8 overall, but 6-2 in Great American Conference play. They fell at home on Saturday afternoon to Arkansas-Monticello in a tightly contested game, 70-68. Henderson trailed early in the second quarter by 16 points and fought all the way back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but UAM's Treasure Evans hit a long, contested jump shot in the game's final seconds to hand Henderson a heartbreaking loss. The Reddies are in sole possession of third place in the GAC standings, trailing Arkansas Tech (7-1) and Harding (8-0).

Despite the loss to the Blossoms, Henderson's key freshmen again played well, with Pink Jones putting up 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds, while Hailey Estes notched her fourth double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 boards. The pair continue to be vital to Henderson's offensive efforts, as Jones leads the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game, and Estes leads the team in rebounding, with 7.6 per contest. Jones is fourth in the GAC in scoring and the highest freshman scorer, and Estes is fifth in the league in rebounding and the leading freshman rebounder in the conference.

As a team, the Reddies are second in the GAC in both scoring offense, with an average of 76.9 points per game, and turnover margin, at plus 2.5. Henderson has hit more 3-pointers than any team in the conference, with 123 in 14 games.

Ouachita Baptist Notes:
OBU enters tonight's game 7-7 overall and 4-4 in GAC play, including losses in both games last week to Arkansas Tech and Harding.

The Lady Tigers are led by a trio of scorers in Alivia Huell, who averages 12.6 points per game, reigning GAC Player of the Week Madison Brittain, averaging 11.8 points per game, and Kori Bullard, who scores just over 10 points per contest.

As a team, OBU has the third-highest scoring offense in the conference, and average 75.9 points per game, and are also third in field goal percentage, shooting .429 percent from the floor for the year. The Reddies will look to take advantage of the Tigers on the defensive end, as they are 10th in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot .413 percent from the floor, and second-to-last in defending the 3-point line, as their opponents have shot over 35 percent from beyond the arc.
