Henderson State lost a five-set thriller as Oklahoma Baptist got past the Reddies 3-2 (25-15, 18-25, 18-25, 25-20 and 15-13) Saturday in Shawnee, Okla.
Courtney Bolf and
Kamra Jackson led Henderson offensively with Bolf having 18 kills, while Jackson had 12 attack winners.
Sariah Boney totaled 24 set assists along with 16 defensive digs, with
Abby Blackburn having 20 sets and 10 digs. Also having a double-double was
Sydney Skelton who collected 32 defensive digs along with 10 sets.
After dropping the opening set, Henderson jumped out to a quick 4-0 advantage and never looked back as the Reddies had five blocks with Bolf having four kills in the set.
In the third set, the Reddies totaled 15 kills and had a .270 attack percentage with
Violet Williams and
Zuzana Ondruskova having four spikes each to lead the way.
Oklahoma Baptist, 11-9 overall and 6-1 in the Great American Conference, used a .326 attack percentage, committing just two errors in winning the fourth set and forcing a fifth and decisive set.
The Reddies trailed 5-1 early in the final set, but fought back and took a 12-11 lead behind four spikes from Bolf. However, the Bison would score three straight points to end the match.
Henderson, 10-10 overall and 3-4 in the Great American Conference, returns home on Friday when the Reddies play host to Southeastern Oklahoma with the first serve set for 6 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
