Reddies Set for Home Opener Against Texas College

Henderson State will play its home opener on Saturday as the Reddies men's basketball team hosts Texas College with tip-off set for 2 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.

The Reddies, 2-2 on the season, are coming off a 76-73 win over Southwestern Oklahoma last Saturday.

In the contest against the Bulldogs, Kaylon Tappin had a career-high 33 points including setting a HSU record in making 18-of-21 free throws. The senior from Little Rock leads
Henderson in scoring averaging 16.5 points per contest.

Freshman Chris Parker also added a career-high 17 points against SWOSU and is averaging 11.0 points per game including a team-best 11 assists.

Josh Jones is also averaging double-figures scoring 15.5 points. The junior from Memphis, Tenn. has converted on 9-of-15 shots from the 3-point arc while shooting 53.7 percent from the field.

Texas College enters the contest with a 1-4 record following a 110-59 loss to Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday.

The Steers are scoring 75.8 points per game while allowing 95.4 points.

Nathaniel Francis leads Texas College averaging 12.4 points per game including 11points against UAM.

Dzifa Mallet follows scoring 11.2 points per outing.
