ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Bacone College hung around for the first 20 minutes of action on Saturday afternoon against Henderson State, but after leading by just five at the break, the Reddies out-scored the Warriors 48-27 in the second half to run away for a 74-47 win in the Duke Wells Center.
Leading 41-34 with 3:55 left in the third quarter, Henderson put together a big 13-2 run to end the period, behind two layups and a 3-pointer from
Blu Jones, to carry a 54-36 advantage into the fourth.
The Warriors cut the lead to 56-42 after starting the quarter on a 6-2 run, but the Reddies ended any hope of a comeback by answering with a 15-4 run of their own to maintain full control and ease away from Bacone for the comfortable victory.
The Reddies had three players score in double figures and were led by
Pink Jones, who finished with 14 points and three steals, and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
Bree Bossier had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while
Blu Jones added 12 points and foul steals.
As a team, Henderson was 13-of-16 at the free throw line and forced Bacone into 22 turnovers. The Reddies out-rebounded the Warriors 46-43. The win improves Henderson to 5-4 on the season.
Henderson returns to action next Saturday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. against Rogers State.
