Reddies look for upset of top-ranked Harding on Thursday in Searcy

After falling to Ouachita Baptist on Monday night, the Henderson State Reddies will look to upset the top-ranked team in the Great American Conference on Thursday when they travel to Searcy, Arkansas, to square off with Harding at 5:30 p.m.

Series:
Henderson trails in the all-time series with the Lady Bisons 25-27. Harding won the first match up between the two teams back on Jan. 21 in Arkadelphia 76-64. The Reddies had a one-point lead entering the final quarter in that game, but the Lady Bisons used a big fourth period to pull away for the win.

Henderson State Notes:
The Reddies enter Thursday night's contest 8-16 on the season and 8-10 in GAC play. They are currently in sole possession of 8th place in the GAC standings. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top eight teams the conference standings will play in the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on March 2-5. Henderson made the field last season as the No. 5 seed.

Hailey Estes has been a major driving force for the Reddies offensively over the last few weeks. In her last seven games, she is averaging just under 17 points per game and has hit 28 3-pointers. Estes, who has hit 67 3-pointers this year, is just 16 3-pointers away from breaking the school record for 3-point field goals in a single season. The current record is held by Angelique Sledge, who hit 82 in 2013-14.

Pink Jones has also played big for Henderson, in both the last several games and all season long. The freshman from Fayetteville, Arkansas has scored in double-figures in 21 of 24 games this season and is 4th in the GAC in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game.

As a team, Henderson is fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 72.9 points per game, and is second in the league in 3-pointers made, with 196 in 24 games.

Harding Notes:
The Lady Bisons enter Thursday's game 20-3 overall and 17-1 in GAC play on the year. They are No. 20 in the country according to the latest WBCA poll and are the No. 2 team in the Central Region. They can clinch the No.1 seed in the conference tournament and at least a share of the regular season GAC title with a win on Thursday.

Harding is led by two prolific post players in Sydney Layrock and Caroline Hogue. Layrock averages 13.2 points per game, while Hogue averages 12.9 points, nine rebounds and just under three blocks per game.

As a team, the Lady Bisons have the top-ranked scoring defense in the GAC, allowing opponents just 60.5 points per game and 33.4 percent shooting from the field. They also lead the conference in blocked shots per game (5.7) and assists per game (17).
