Henderson State won a pair of games on Saturday to finish the 8-States Classic Tournament 4-0 this weekend in Bentonville, Ark.
The Reddies, 6-6 on the year, began the day with a 9-5 victory over Minnesota-Duluth and finished the weekend with a 5-1 win over Central Missouri.
Against UMD, Henderson combined for five runs in the first two innings with the help of a two-run double by
Keirsten Seahorn and RBI doubles by
Courtney Warren and
Bethany Allen.
The Reddies added two more runs in the fourth with a run scoring single by
Alexis Morton and Seahorn's second double of the game to plate Morton.
Kaitlyn Felder hit a two-run homer in the seventh-inning to provide some insurance runs for the Reddies.
Henderson totaled 12 hits in the game with Seahorn going 3-for-4, while Warren, Morton, Allen and Felder had two hits each.
Cayleigh Guthrie pitched 4 1/3 innings to get the win with
Michelle Sorensen picking up a save, striking out three batters.
Against UCM, Henderson built a 5-0 lead scoring two runs in the second-inning and three in the fourth as the Reddies belted out seven hits.
Shayla Wright drove in four runs in the game with a two-run single in the second and fourth innings.
Ashleigh Erb was 2-for-3 in the game while Felder also had two hits in the game.
Sorensen recorded the complete game win scattering four hits while striking out eight batters.
Henderson begins Great American Conference play when the Reddies play host to Oklahoma Baptist with the four-game series beginning Friday at 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
