Reddies Tame Tigers, Take 3-1 Win at East Central

ADA, Okla. – Zuzana Ondruskova, Courtney Bolf and Taylor Scalzi picked up double-doubles as the Reddies defeated the East Central Tigers, 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20) on Friday evening.

Ondruskova had 16 kills and 15 digs, Bolf had 22 digs and 14 kills, and Scalzi had 25 assists and 11 digs to lead the way statistically. Gigi Garramone had a team-high 26 digs and Adrianna Hartmann picked up 15 kills with an efficient .429 attack percentage. Abby Blackburn added 24 assists and six digs.

Henderson (18-3, 7-1) will continue its Oklahoma roadtrip when the Reddies visit the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Durant, Oklahoma.

SET ONE
Unfazed by the long road trip, the Reddies came out of the blocks hot and soon found themselves doubling up ECU, 4-2, 6-3, 8-4 and 10-5. With the score 15-10 Reddies, ECU attempted to claw their way back into the first set, but a quick 6-1 run put HSU in complete control, 21-11. The Tigers scored four in a row at the end of the set, but it wasn't enough, as Alex Tyler notched one of her five kills to give the Reddies the set, 25-19.

SET TWO
The Reddies jumped out to an even quicker start in the second frame. With HSU leading 4-2, the Reddies got three-straight kills from Hartmann to propel an 8-1 run and make the score 12-3. Slowly but surely, ECU fought back, and came within 2 points of HSU, 21-19. The Reddies responded to the ECU pressure, however, taking the last four points of the second set to win, 25-19.

SET THREE
In the third set it was ECU who got out to the early lead. The Tigers nabbed the first three points of the set and eventually pushed their lead to seven points, 12-5. HSU was able to use a lengthy 11-4 run to tie the set 16-16, but were unable to take the lead. ECU finished the frame on a 9-2 spurt and stayed alive by taking the third set, 25-18.

SET FOUR
For the second set in a row, the Reddies found themselves in an early hole, trailing 6-2. However, the Reddies retook the lead as kills from Karlie Greene and Bolf highlighted a 5-0 Reddies' run that made the score 9-7 HSU. The match went back and forth, but with the score 14-13 in HSU's favor, the Reddies created some separation behind three kills from Ondruskova as part of a 7-2 run. The spurt put Henderson in front 21-15. ECU never got closer than four points the rest of the way and a Bolf kill gave the Reddies the set, and the match, 25-20.
