Courtney Bolf had 11 kills,
Abby Blackburn tallied 13 assists, and
Gigi Garramone notched 20 digs, as the Reddies beat the Southeastern Oklahoma State 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon.
The win keeps Henderson in a tie for first place in the Great American Conference. The Reddies have not lost a true road game yet this season.Â
The Reddies (19-3, 8-1) return home next Friday, Oct. 12, when they take on the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs in a battle for conference supremacy at 6:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
SET ONE
For the second match in a row, the Reddies started hot and found themselves up 10-4 early. SOSU pulled within two, 15-13, but HSU responded with a 6-0 run behind kills from
Adrianna Hartmann and Bolf to push its lead to 21-13. SOSU took the next two points, put the Reddies took four in a row and captured the first set 25-15.
SET TWO
In the second, it was the Savage Storm who came out firing to the tune of a 4-1 lead. The Reddies regained control however and used a 9-3 run to take a 10-8 advantage. HSU was clinging to a 13-12 lead midway through the frame when multiple SOSU mistakes allowed the Reddies to grab some breathing room by way of a 5-1 run, which made it 18-13. Both teams traded points the rest of the way, but the Reddies took the frame, and a commanding 2-0 lead, 25-20.Â
SET THREE
SOSU buried Henderson in an early hole in the third set and used a quick 4-0 spurt to take a 6-2 lead. The Reddies clawed within one, but another 4-0 run from the Savage Storm extended the lead to 12-7. With the Reddies facing their largest deficit of the match, they responded with their largest run, a 10-1 spurt behind two Bolf kills, which put them in front 17-13. SOSU did not go quietly and worked the set back to an 18-18 tie, but with a chance to win in straight sets, the Reddies took advantage, ending the match on a 7-2 run to win, 25-20. Â
