Southern Arkansas used 13 hits and took advantage of 16 walks to beat Henderson State 20-6 in non-conference baseball action, Tuesday in Magnolia, Ark.
The Muleriders, 7-4 on the season, scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back scoring runs in every inning.
Henderson, 6-4 on the season, scored its first run in the second-inning as
Joe Myers and
Nolan Ryan led off the inning by reaching base on walks. Myers scored on a
Brandon Pollock fielder's choice later in the inning.
The Reddies scored five additional runs in the seventh-inning, loading the bases with the help of four walks.
Daniel Colasanto forced home the first run of the inning when he received a free pass, with
Jake Ayers scoring on a wild pitch.
Danny Spradlin drove in two runs with a double to right-centerfield. It was Spradlin's first collegiate hit. The freshman from Arkadelphia later scored on a wild pitch for Henderson's final run.
The Reddies had four hits in the game with
Zack Gray,
Brentten Schwaab and
Turner Sparks all having singles, along with Spradlin's double.
The Reddies used four pitchers with
Dalton O'Donnell being tabbed with the loss giving up nine runs on nine hits.
Henderson returns home this weekend to host Oklahoma Baptist in a three-game Great American Conference series beginning with a single game of Friday with the first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field.
