Texas A&M-Kingsville scored nine runs in the seventh-inning to beat Henderson State 11-0, Sunday at the Houston Winter Invitational at Minute Maid Park.
The Javelinas, 3-0 on the season, benefited from three free passes and a pair of hit batters to build in insurmountable lead. Austin Ingraham belted a three-run double in the frame, with Kohl Ullman having a two-run double.
The Javs took an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Pablo Hernandez in the second-inning and added a second run in the fifth, following a single by Alex Gonzalez and a single by Manny Loredo.
The Reddies threatened in the bottom of the second putting runners at the corners with one out, but consecutive strikeouts ended the inning.
Kyle Craft kept the Reddies off-balance allowing just two hits in five innings of work to get the win.
Jackson Martin and
Joseph Shepherd each had a single for Henderson.
Zach Eschberger pitched 6 1/3 inning and gave up three runs on five hits, striking out six batters while being tabbed with the loss.
Henderson State will be at home for the first time this season when the Reddies play host to Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday in the opening round of HSU Invitational at Clyde Berry Field with first pitch slated for 6 p.m.
