Reddies Softball Drops Pair at Charger Chill Out

Henderson State completed the Charger Chill Out dropping their final two games losing to North Alabama 7-2 and Mississippi College 9-5, Friday in Huntsville, Ala.

In the first game against North Alabama, the Lions scored two runs in the fourth and added three runs in the seventh to pull away from the Reddies.

Kailey Reese lead Henderson with two hits including a triple and a run batted in, while Bethany Allen, Christianna Camp and Mallory Brewer each had singles.

In the finale against Mississippi College, Henderson took a 1-0 lead in the first-inning when Allen led off the inning with an infield single, stole second, and advanced to third on a Lindsey Williams infield single. Allen scored when Madie Green singled to left field.

Mississippi College plated three runs in the fourth-inning to take a 3-1 lead.

The lead was short-lived as the Reddies, 4-3 on the year, scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 advantage.

Ashleigh Erb doubled and later stole home for the first run. Alexis Morton walked, stole second and then scored on an error. Williams doubled down the left-field line to score Allen for the final run of the inning.

The Choctaws scored a pair of runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and a single run in the seventh to build a 9-5 lead.

Henderson scored a single run in the sixth when Nadia Ballarin was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Selena Mendoza. The Reddies loaded the bases in the inning but were unable to drive in another run.

The Reddies clubbed out 10 hits in the game with Allen, Williams, Green, and Erb having two hits each.

Green finished the four games going 6-for-10 with a pair of doubles and 6 RBI, while Allen was 7-for-13 with three doubles. Kailey Reese had a solid tournament going 6-for-12 with a double, triple and 3 RBI.

Henderson will next travel to Bentonville, Ark. to play in the UAM 8 States Classic beginning Friday.
