ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Courtney Bolf,
Zuzana Ondruskova and
Abby Blackburn turned in double-doubles, but it was not enough, as the Reddies fell to Harding 3-1 (13-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-20). The loss snapped the Reddies 14-match winning streak, which was the program's longest since the 1993 campaign. It is the first loss for Henderson (15-3, 4-1) this season in GAC play.
Bolf finished with 16 kills and 13 digs, Ondruskova had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Blackburn tallied 20 assists and 10 digs to pace the Reddies.
Adrianna Hartmann added 16 kills of her own, while
Gigi Garramone had a team-high 16 digs in the loss. As a team, HSU had a .500 attacking percentage in the first set, but just a .138 attacking percentage in the final three frames.
HSU looks to get back on track on Friday, when the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison visit the Duke Wells Center on Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
SET ONE
Harding jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Reddies answered quickly, eventually taking a 4-3 lead after two impressive blocks from
Tyasia McGruder. The Reddies continued their assault, using a 6-2 run that forced HU into a timeout with HSU leading 10-5. The stoppage in play did the Lady Bisons no favors, however, as the Reddies would take the next seven points en route to a commanding 17-5 advantage. Harding was unable to cut the Reddies lead to single digits, as an
Alex Tyler kill gave HSU the set 25-13 and a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET TWO
Unfortunately for the Reddies, the script was flipped in the second frame. With the score tied 5-5, Harding went on a quick 7-2 run to take a 12-7 lead. As the set progressed, the Lady Bisons lead widened, as three-straight points eventually gave Harding a double-digit advantage, 23-13. Henderson got one back, but Harding finished the set without trouble, tying the match, 25-14.Â
SET THREE
For the second-straight frame, the set was tied 5-5 before a Reddies' run, capped off by a well-placed Bolf kill, made the score 10-6 Reddies. The Lady Bisons punched back however and used a lengthy 7-2 run to re-take the lead, 13-12. The match was tightly contested when Harding made the final push in the set, as they ripped off a 7-1 run after trailing 19-18 to take it, 25-20.Â
SET FOUR
Both squads looked even more evenly matched in the fourth set, as the score was tied 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 6-6 and 7-7. Harding tried to pull away with a modest 7-4 run, but the Reddies answered with a 6-0 spurt of their own to retake the lead, 17-14. However, the Reddies were unable to control the set, as the Lady Bisons took six of the next seven points to seize a 20-18 advantage. Henderson was unable to find a big run late, as the Lady Bisons took the set and the match, 25-20.Â
