Strong Offensive Night Lifts Reddies Over SOSU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. Double-digit kills from Sabrina Show, Adrianna Hartmann, and Courtney Bolf led the Reddies to their fifth-straight win on Thursday, as Henderson State dispatched Southeastern Oklahoma State 3-1 (25-20, 25-10, 15-25, 25-13).

Henderson (13-9, 5-3) also got double-doubles from Bolf and Abby Blackburn, who led the Reddies with 23 assists. Show, Hartmann and Bolf were extremely efficient against the Savage Storm, and combined for a 42.0% attacking percentage.

The Reddies will look to win their second match in two nights when East Central visits the Duke Wells Center at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

SET ONE
The Reddies and the Savage Storm traded early jabs before Show's first kill of the night jumpstarted a 6-1 HSU run that gave Henderson an early 10-5 advantage. A stingy Southeastern team refused to roll over, and used a series of 3-0 spurts to tie the score 14-14. The Reddies did not allow the Storm to take the lead, however, as two kills from Bree Sanders helped HSU surge ahead 22-17 with an 8-3 run. Southeastern did not threaten again and the Reddies cruised to a 25-20 set win.

SET TWO
With all the momentum on their side, the Reddies raced out to a massive 10-2 lead in the second set behind kills from Bolf, Show and Hartmann. With the score 10-3, Southeastern could do little to slow Henderson's attack, as another 6-1 run gave HSU a 16-5 advantage. Southeastern would not crawl closer than eight, as three more kills from Show helped Henderson take a commanding 2-0 advantage 25-10.

SET THREE
For the first time on Thursday night, Southeastern controlled the tempo of the match, as the Savage Storm kept the Reddies off balance for the entirety of the third set. With the score tied 6-6, an extended 15-6 Southeastern run gave the Storm control and HSU could not mount a response, as SOSU took the third frame, 25-15.

SET FOUR
After a sloppy third set, the Reddies quickly righted the ship in the fourth and final frame. Early kills from Bolf, Tyasia McGruder, and Show gave the Reddies a 4-1 lead before back-to-back kills from Show and Hartmann put HSU in front 9-2. After the Savage Storm pulled one back to make it 9-3, a lengthy 13-5 run gave HSU a 22-8 advantage. Despite a 4-0 spurt from Southeastern, the Reddies took the fourth set, and their fifth straight win, 25-13.

Milestone Watch
Against the Savage Storm, Hartmann moved to third all-time in career block assists and fourth in career blocks. With her one service ace, Bolf tied Melissa Trotter for ninth all-time in HSU history in aces.
