Reddies' Win Streak Snapped by NWOSU in Alva

ALVA, Okla. – Double-doubles from Courtney Bolf and Sabrina Show and a season-high 29 digs from Kenzie Thoman were not enough for Henderson State on Friday night as the Reddies fell to Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1 (29-27, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22).

Bolf finished with 20 kills and 23 digs, Show had 13 kills and 12 digs, and Adrianna Hartmann also tallied 10 kills to go along with six total blocks. Abby Blackburn led the Reddies with 28 digs, while Taylor Scalzi added 21 of her own.

SET ONE
Despite a 5-1 run from the Reddies to start the match, the Rangers rallied with a 5-1 run of their own to pull in front 6-5. A powerful kill from Bolf tied the set and jumpstarted an 11-5 run that gave HSU its largest lead, 16-11. Unfortunately, the Rangers roared back quickly, with a 6-0 run that moved them in front 17-16. After back and forth action, two straight kills from Show put the Reddies in front 24-22, but Henderson was unable to close the frame, as NWOSU staved off three set points to take a 1-0 lead, 29-27.

SET TWO
Neither team could find an early advantage in the second set as neither HSU or NWOSU could build more than a one-point lead. With the score tied 7-7, Tyasia McGruder's kill helped the Reddies to a 5-1 spurt and a 12-8 lead. For the second set in a row, the Rangers climbed back into the game, closing the gap to one at 13-12, 14-13, and 15-14. Northwestern however, could not tie or take the lead as the Reddies held them without consecutive points for the rest of the set as HSU tied the match 25-20.

SET THREE
Similarly to the opening frame, the Reddies and Rangers alternated 5-1 runs which eventually moved HSU in front, 8-7. Kills from Show and Hartmann helped push the Reddies lead to three, 14-11, but NWOSU rallied with a 10-4 run of their own and took a 21-18 advantage. Another kill from Hartmann could not break the Rangers momentum, who finished the set on a 4-0 run to pull in front 2-1, 25-19.

SET FOUR
Armed the momentum from the third set, the Rangers quickly made their move in the fourth and final frame. With the score tied 2-2, NWOSU rattled off a 10-2 run to pull in front 12-4. However, the Reddies refused to roll over, and used a 10-2 run of their own to tie the set 14-14. Kills from Bolf, McGruder, and Show eventually put HSU in front 19-17, but the Rangers ended the set with an 8-3 run, taking the match 25-22.
