ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A season-high 22 kills from Sabrina Show led the Reddies to their second win of the season over a Division I opponent, as HSU defeated Texas Southern 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23).
Show was unstoppable for the entirety of the match and finished with an astronomical 50% attacking percentage. Sophomore Alex Tyler also had an impressive afternoon for HSU and tallied nine kills.Â
Abby Blackburn and Taylor Scalzi combined for 53 set assists, as Blackburn notched the only double-double of the day for Henderson, adding 10 digs to her 33 assists. Kenzie Thoman led the Reddies with 25 digs.

SET ONE
Show set the tempo early with two powerful kills that helped Henderson to a 6-3 lead. However, the Reddies were unable to extend the lead, as TSU's 10-3 run helped them pull ahead, 13-9. With the score 16-13 Tigers, back-to-back kills from Show highlighted a dominant 7-1 run that sent HSU back in front, 20-17. The Tigers cut the deficit to one, 20-19, but could not tie or take the lead, as the Reddies took the first set, 25-21.Â
SET TWO
The combination of Show and Tyler proved deadly in the second set, as five combined kills put HSU in front 8-4. The Tigers clawed back to make it a one-point affair, 11-10, but a 10-4 Reddies run gave Henderson a comfortable 21-14 advantage. TSU managed a 4-0 spurt that cut HSU's lead to three, 21-18, but a timely kill from Tyler got the Reddies back on track as HSU took the second set, 25-20.Â
SET THREE
The Reddies were unable to take advantage of their momentum as the Tigers came out firing in set number three. TSU kept HSU out of rhythm and climbed to a 15-10 advantage. Despite a 18-13 deficit, HSU refused to roll over and used impressive defense to pull within one, 21-20. Unfortunately, the Reddies could not tie or take the lead, as the squads alternated points until TSU took the third set, 25-23.Â
SET FOUR
Aces from Blackburn and Thoman, as well as two more kills from Show, put the Reddies in front 5-2 early in the fourth frame. For the second time in the match, however, the Tigers answered quickly, and used a 7-2 run to pull in front 9-7. HSU immediately responded with a 5-2 run of its own and took a slight 12-11 advantage. Neither team gave an inch as the set moved to a 20-20 tie following a kill from Courtney Bolf, but Henderson got two more kills from Show down the stretch which proved enough to take the set, and the match, 25-23.Â
