SET ONE
It was all UAM early on as the Blossoms burst to an early 10-6 advantage. HSU quickly settled in however, and ripped off a quick 4-0 run to tie the opening set 10-10. Henderson appeared to have stolen the momentum with a 17-15 lead, but Monticello answered with a 6-1 run to go in front 21-18. HSU made it a one-point contest with the score 21-20, 23-22, and 24-23, but could not tie or take the lead, as UAM took the first frame, 25-23.
SET TWO
After a 4-0 start from the Reddies and a 5-1 run by the Blossoms to tie things at 5-5, both teams found themselves evenly matched in the second set as the score progressed to a 15-15 tie. The Reddies fell behind briefly, 16-15, but tore off five-straight points to match their largest lead of the set, 20-16. UAM had no answer for the Reddies, as HSU tied the match 25-18.
SET THREE
Similarly to the second set, the inception of the third frame was marked by alternating runs. Trailing 1-0, Monticello took six-straight on the way to a 6-1 lead before four in a row by Henderson closed the gap to one, 6-5. Another 5-1 run from UAM helped the Blossoms equal their largest lead, 11-6, but the Reddies clawed back into the set, eventually tying the score 16-16 with a kill from Bolf. Monticello appeared to retake control with a 3-0 spurt that had them in front 19-16, but Henderson ended the set on a 9-3 run to take a 2-1 match lead, 25-22.
SET FOUR
Armed with all the momentum in Monticello, the Reddies controlled the fourth and final frame from start to finish. A kill from Bolf started things off before back-to-back aces by Thoman jump-started the Reddies to a 9-1 run and a 10-3 advantage. With the score 17-8 Henderson, UAM mounted a comeback with a 7-2 run to cut HSU's lead to four, 19-15, but the Blossoms got no closer, as the Reddies took the set, and the match, 25-16.
