ALVA, Okla. — Henderson State was held to a season-low in points on Saturday as Northwestern Oklahoma State defeated the Reddies 69-54 at Percefull Fieldhouse.
Joshua Jones hit five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 18 points in the game, while Anthony Lupardus had 10 on 4-of-5 shooting.
The Reddies (17-9, 12-8) trailed 32-20 at the break, but opened the second half on a 20-11 run to trim the deficit down to just 43-40 with 10:24 remaining.
The Rangers responded by hitting five of their next six shots over the next five minutes — which included three-straight 3-pointers — to spur a 13-5 run and extend the lead out to 58-45 with 5:06 left. The Reddies scrapped, but never got within single digits again, as NWOSU pulled away for the win.
It was a tough shooting day for HSU on the road, as the Reddies hit on just 36.7 percent of their looks from the floor and 11-of-20 of their attempts from the free throw line.Â
NWOSU shortened the game considerably in the second half. The Rangers shot just under 52 percent in the game's final 20 minutes and 10 of their 14 made field goals came with less than 10 seconds remaining on the shot clock.Â
Henderson returns home on Thursday, Feb. 28, when the Reddies host Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
