ITTA BENA, Miss. — A balanced attack gave Henderson State its second win of the weekend as the Reddies overwhelmed Division I Mississippi Valley State 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-15).
Henderson's senior middle blocker Adrianna Hartmann was nearly unstoppable on the offensive side, finishing with nine kills and a .615 attacking percentage. Â
The Reddies resume Great American Conference play on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. matchup at Harding.Â

SET ONE
The combination of an Abby Blackburn ace and a kill from Sabrina Show to give the Reddies a quick 2-0 lead set the tone for a dominant first set. With the score tied 8-8, HSU began to exert its will on the match with a 6-2 run that made the score 14-10 and sent MVSU into a timeout. The stoppage did not stop the HSU onslaught as the Reddies used an 8-2 spurt to take a commanding 22-12 lead. MVSU posed no threat at the conclusion of the opening set as Henderson took a 1-0 lead, 25-14.
SET TWO
In set number two it was HSU's turn to play catch-up, as Mississippi Valley State took an early 8-4 lead. Three-straight errors from the Devilettes let the Reddies back in the game 8-7, before back-to-back kills from Show tied the set 11-11. Neither side was able to gain separation as the set wound to a close, but with the score tied at 23-23, HSU leaned on the veteran Courtney Bolf and the rookie McKenzie Tuyo for two-straight kills, which gave the Reddies a 2-0 lead, 25-23.Â
SET THREE
Just as MVSU errors let HSU back into the second set, the Reddies returned the favor in the third, as Mississippi Valley State erased an 8-4 deficit to tie the set 8-8. Henderson would not allow the Devilettes to take the lead, however, and responded with a 5-1 run to make it 13-9. After MVSU halved the lead and brought the score to 13-11, a 7-2 spurt by HSU put the Reddies firmly in control 20-13. Henderson would go on to win the final five points of the set as they took the match 3-0 with a 25-15 win.
