RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. —
Mallory Brewer had one of the best starts of her career on Saturday as the Reddies took the series finale 2-0 over Arkansas Tech.
Brewer went the distance for Henderson State, pitching all seven innings while allowing two hits and notching three strikeouts.
The 2-0 win gave the Reddies a series split in the opening weekend of the conference season as Arkansas Tech took the first game of Saturday's doubleheader 3-0.
Czoey White and
Ashlyn Taylor were the only Reddies to collect a hit in both contests.
Henderson State (6-10, 2-2) will trek to the Sooner State next weekend for a four-game series at Oklahoma Baptist with doubleheaders scheduled at 3 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Game 4: Henderson State 2, Arkansas Tech 0
Henderson State got its first run of the day in the second inning by playing small ball.
Abbie Moore started things with a leadoff walk and was moved into scoring position by a
Taylor Sledd sacrifice. After moving over to third with a passed ball, Moore came home on a single to right center field by
Alyssa Dixon which gave HSU a 1-0 lead.
Â
The Reddies would double the lead in the very next inning with a two-out rally. Following back-to-back groundouts, White got things going with a single to left field before Moore worked her second-straight walk to give HSU runners on first and second with one out. Moments later, Sledd singled down the right field line and brought home White to make it 2-0.
Â
A pair of runs would be more than enough support for Brewer who was close to untouchable. The junior allowed just one hit to Arkansas Tech in the third through seventh innings as the Reddies shutout the Golden Suns 2-0.

Game 3: Arkansas Tech 3, Henderson State 0
Becca Almond was solid for the second-straight day, but the Reddies were held to just two hits in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader.
The Reddies picked up the game's first hit in the top of the second when Moore singled to left. However, the base paths were wiped clean when Sledd's fly out to center field turned into a double play as the Arkansas Tech outfield threw behind Moore for a double play.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, HSU got a runner in scoring position when Taylor singled and stole second. The game remained tied however, as ATU's pitcher Maddy Prough ended the inning with one of her four strikeouts.
Tech would triple the lead in the bottom of the third with a double from Makenzie Addis and a single from Makenzie Goins to make it 3-0.
The Reddies mustered only one more hit the rest of the contest and fell 3-0.
