Reddies Out-Hit Harding in Fourth-Straight Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State used three different three-run innings, as well as four home runs, to defeat Harding 12-9 on Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Kaden Argenbright had his best game of the year for HSU (13-8, 9-6) and finished the day 4-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBIs. Argenbright hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning and then polished off a 10-pitch at-bat with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth. Danny Mitchell Jr. and Bryson Haskins also hit home runs in the win for HSU.

Ethan Perry earned his second win of the season for Henderson out of the bullpen after relieving starter Trevor Gracey and pitching a spotless 1.1 innings. Perry entered with the bases loaded in the third and got the Reddies out of the jam.

The Reddies went up 2-0 in the first inning behind back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Argenbright and Corbin Tsistinas. Harding answered with three runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead, but HSU hung three runs on the board in the third, fourth and sixth innings to open up a commanding 11-4 advantage.

The Bisons did their best to make things interesting in the late innings, as they scored five unanswered in the seventh and eighth to trim the lead to 11-9. Despite the rally, Argenbright's home run in the bottom of the inning swung momentum back to Henderson, who was able to close it out and earn its fourth-straight win.

Henderson pounded out 14 hits as a team and every player in the starting lineup recorded at least one in the win. Five different pitchers took the mound against Harding, including Lane Neely, who pitched two innings in his first action of the year, and Henry Coppens, who struck out three batters in one inning of work.

HSU returns to Clyde Berry Field on Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Southern Arkansas in the opener of a three-game GAC series.
