CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Henderson State women's and men's swim and diving programs set a school record in the 200-yard medley relay on the first day of competition at the Delta State University Christmas Invitational. The four teams taking part in this year's meet include Delta State, the University of Montevallo, Henderson State and the University of Incarnate Word.

The Red Wave women are in second place with 273 points, while the men are also in second with 290 points after completing the relays and distance competitions.

The women's and men's 200-yard medley relay teams both placed second and qualified for Nationals. For the women,
Kiara Pozvai,
Bianca Santiago,
Isabelle Andrews and
Mackenzie Kester finished with a time of 1:44.0, setting a new school record. The previous record time was 1:44.20, set in 2012.Â

The men's team of
Lamar Taylor,
Jaren Tippett,
Jase Pinckney, and
Jack Armstrong touched the wall at 1:27.86, breaking the previous school record time of 1:28.14 in the 200 medley relay.

The Red Wave women's and men's teams both placed third in the 800-yard free relay. The women's team of
Kiara Pozvai,
Isabelle Andrews,
Ryann Grasser and
Mackenzie Kester touched the wall at 7:39.43. For the men,
Jack Armstrong,
Lamar Taylor,
Ty Gibbs and
Patryk Dabrowski finished with a time of 6:41.52.

In the individual races,
Scott Doll and
Triston Little finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 1000 yard free for the men. Doll finished with a time of 9:53.95, while Little touched the wall at 9:59.55.
Jayme Simmer finished eighth in the 1000 yard free with a time of 11:07.06. Diver
Laci Long qualified for Nationals with her performance in the diving competitions. Â
