ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Henderson State falls to the University of Arkansas-Monticello 3-0, ending their two-match win streak.
Christiane Uzoh and
Aleah Stogner lead the HSU attack with ten and seven kills, respectively. Sophomore setter
Madison Hatt had her hand in starting attacks, finishing the match with 17 assists. On the net, Uzoh,
Lexi Turner and
Larkin Luke all finished the match with two blocks apiece.
The Reddies (7-8, 1-2) turn their attention to Tuesday, Sept. 20, when they host rivals Ouachita Baptist in the first Battle of the Ravine this season. The first serve starts at 6:30 p.m.
SET ONE
The Blossoms got off to a fast start scoring the set's first three points. Henderson responded with a flurry of attacks to bring the set level 4-4. After that, both teams went point-for-point till UAM found breathing room at 10-7.
Set one had three lead changes and four ties, but the Blossoms' four-point run expanded their lead to 14-8. Arkansas-Monticello would close out the set with a pair of three-point runs to win, 25-20.
SET TWO
Another quick start by UAM, as they found themselves up 7-2, but the Reddies cut into the advantage to trail 9-6. An eight-point by Henderson put them up 14-11, getting its first set lead.
The Blossoms would take the advantage at 23-20 after a deadlock that had both teams tied four times. Henderson rallied to send the set into extra points, but a pair of costly errors gave UAM a 26-24 set victory.
SET THREE
Set three would prove to be the most chaotic set of the match, with six lead changes and eight ties. At 14, all the Blossoms put together a four-point and expanded on their lead to go up 21-16. UAM ended the set with a pair of kills to win 25-20.
