OWENSBORO, Kentucky - Henderson State finished day one of the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament 0-2 after defeats to Northern Michigan and Purdue Northwest. The Reddies took set one in both matches but could not carry the momentum.
Christiane Uzoh finished day one of the tournament with 26 kills and four blocks. The sophomore led the team in total kills and was kill leader in both matches.
The Reddies had two players record a double-double with Maddison Hatt and Aleah Stonger registering one in the first match of the day.
On day two of the tournament, the Reddies (3-4, 0-0) will face Kentucky State at 1 p.m. and finish against Tiffin University at 5 p.m.
Match 1: Northern Michigan 3, Henderson 1
In the first meeting between Henderson State and Northern Michigan, the Wildcats defeated the Reddies 4-1 in the tournament's first match. HSU took an early lead, winning the first set, but the Wildcats came back to win the remaining frames.
Maddison Hatt finished the match with 25 assists and 12 digs, recording her second double-double of the season. Her first double-double came against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Aleah Stogner registered her first double-double of the season, recording 12 kills and 12 digs, as she continues to impress as a true freshman. Outside hitter

SET ONE
Henderson fell behind early to the Wildcats after jumping to a 7-3 lead. Northern Michigan held their lead, keeping a two to three-point advantage over the Reddies through most of the set.
HSU put together a 3-0 run to tie the match at 16-16, but the Wildcats did not allow Henderson to gain the advantage, taking a 21-19 lead. A 6-1 run that featured a block and a kill from
Christiane Uzoh cemented a 25-22 set victory for HSU.
SET TWO
The Reddies took an early 4-1 lead, but three service aces and several kills for the Wildcats gave them a 7-4 advantage. After taking a 7-4 lead, Northern Michigan would carry the lead to set point. The Reddies attack struggled in set two with a handful of attacking errors by the offense. Henderson could not overcome these mistakes, losing frame two 25-13.
SET THREE
Henderson State got off to a quick start in set three with a 7-3 run, but a 5-2 exchange by the Wildcats closed the gap on the Reddies. Set three, similar to set one, went back and forth, each team going point for point. At 21-21, Northern Michigan outscored Henderson 4-2, winning the set 25-23.
SET FOUR
Similar to the other sets, the Reddies got an early 8-4 lead but again struggled to build on it. The Wildcats clawed their way back into the frame, tying the set at 13-13, then putting together a 3-1 run to take the lead at 16-14. Henderson kept the frame close at the end, only down one, 21-20, but a 4-0 run from Northern Michigan ended the set and match.
Match 2: Purdue Northwest 3, Henderson 1
Henderson fell to Purdue Northwest 3-1 in the first meeting. The Reddies won the first set, but the Pride were able to secure a comeback victory after winning three straight sets.
Christiane Uzoh led the team with ten kills and freshman
Aleah Stogner had the second most kills with five.
Larkin Luke led the team with three total blocks and registered three kills.
SET ONE
The Reddies found themselves down early to Purdue Northwest, 7-3, due to several errors by HSU. After trading scores with one another, Henderson got back into the set and tied it up 15-15. The Reddies carried the momentum to go on a 6-2 run to expand their lead to 20-17.

SET TWO
The Pride opened the scoring and continued to score, leading the Reddies 6-1. PNW would not let up in set two, not allowing Henderson to get the lead this frame. The Pride put together a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 17-7, and the Reddies, unable to rally, would drop set two, 25-12.
SET THREE
Henderson and Purdue Northwest went point for point early in set three, finding themselves tied at 2-2, 4-4 and 8-8. The Pride's 9-1 run swayed the advantage, 17-9, PNW in command would only give up six more points, winning 25-16.
SET FOUR
The Pride got an early 5-1 over Henderson, but the Reddies fought back to tie the match at 8-8 after a 7-3 run. In a closely contested frame and a must-win set for Henderson, the two teams tied 18-18. The Pride took the advantage on a 7-3 run, securing their third straight set win.
