FINAL RESULTS
CONWAY, Ark. - The Henderson State women set five pool records at Hendrix while the men set four as both Red Wave programs dominated their respective Hendrix counterparts to seize their first head-to-head meet victory of the young 2022-23 season.
The women won, 180-39, while setting pool records in the 200 medley relay, 50 back, 100 free, 200 breast and 400 IM. The quartet of
Kiara Pozvai,
Jessica Bongfeldt,
Bianca Santiago and
Raven Roberts started out the record-breaking affair with the first event of the night, touching the wall first in thte 200 medley relay at 1:49.46. The previous pool record was 1:49.80, which was also set by HSU back in 2010.
True freshman Santiago set an additional two individual pool records, beginning with her first-place time of 4:39.50 in the 400 IM, breaking the previous record of 4:40.37 set back in 2014. Her big night continued with the 200 breaststroke, breaking the original record by a second and a half to top the podium.
For the men, who won the overall meet 181-31, the quartet of
Lamar Taylor,
Jaren Tippett,
Jase Pinckney and
Jack Armstrong followed suit with the ladies, breaking the previous 200 medley relay pool record of 1:34.79 with their own time of 1:31.22.Â
The men owned the relays on the night as their second pool record to break was in the 400 free relay when Armstrong,
Patryk Dabrowski,
Oscar Patten and Taylor touched the wall first at 3:01.21, beating the 2011 record by more than five seconds.
The Red Wave will return to the site of their season-opening meet when they face Arkansas-Little Rock and Drury in Little Rock, Arkansas, Friday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. before having their home-opener against Oklahoma Christian Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.
