WACO, Texas - Henderson State football offensive lineman Robert Dunham and defensive end Gary Lewis were honored as American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-Americans, the AFCA announced Thursday morning.

Dunham garnered First Team All-America honors, becoming the first HSU offensive lineman to be named First Team by an publication since 2006. Lewis landed on the Second Team as he is the first Reddie defensive player to be named an All-American since 2019.

The 2023 First Team All-GAC offensive lineman was a staple up front for a Henderson group that was plagued by injuries. Dunham served as the only HSU offensive lineman in 2023 to start all 12 games, including HSU's first NCAA Playoff appearance since 2015. Dunham was the cornerstone on an offensive line that paved the way for 182.3 rushing yards per game in the regular season, which was fifth in the league at the time.

Lewis, in just two years with the program, is a two-time All-GAC recipient and a Second Team All-American. The Fordyce, Arkansas, prospect debuted on the All-Conference First Team this fall after leading the defensive front with eight tackles-for-loss and tied for the team-lead with seven and a half sacks. 

Dunham, a graduating senior, finishes his Henderson State career with 39 appearances for the Reddies while redshirt sophomore Lewis will return for his third campaign, where he will look to lead a unit that returns one starter on the defensive line from HSU's playoff game.
