Reddies Fall in Hot Springs to Ouachita Baptist

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - In a neutral site game at Majestic Park, the site of the 2022 GAC Tournament, Henderson State fell to Ouachita Baptist Monday evening, 13-4.

Catcher Austin Scritchfield got on base three times in the contest, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate while working a walk, followed by Luke Rice at 2-for-4. Charles Hoof and Luke Farrar each tallied a home run in the first inning for three and one RBI, respectively.

The Reddies held a 4-1 lead after the first inning, thanks to the homers from Hoof and Farrar. A lead-off double from Louis Holt started off the offense for HSU, followed by a Greyson Stevens before Hoof came to the plate. The redshirt junior outfielder proceeded to send his pitch over the left-field wall for a three-run shot before Farrar came two batters later for his two-out, solo home run.

After HSU's pitching held OUA scoreless in the top of the second, the Tigers changed pitchers in the home-half of the inning. From there, Henderson was unable to bring another run across the dish. The change sparked 11 runs over their next two innings as the plays stood at 12-4 ahead of the fifth inning.

Henderson's Joshua Saulsbury entered the game late in the top of the fourth and delivered 3.1 scoreless innings while claiming five strikeouts to just one walk and and two hits. The pitching went both ways, however, as the Reddies were also held scoreless the rest of the way.

Ouachita Baptist added one run in the eighth to take the 13-4 victory. The cross-street rivals will revisit tonight's matchup in a rematch tomorrow night at 6 p.m. from Clyde Berry Field.
