JONESBORO, Ark. - In just the tenth all-time meeting between in-state programs Henderson State and Division I Arkansas State, the Reddies fell in their final nonconference game of the regular season to the Red Wolves Tuesday evening, 10-0.
Henderson managed just two hits in the outing as
Dillon Thomas and
Jacob Carroll were the lone batters to claim base-knocks. Carroll also worked a walk to get on base two times in the contest while
Luke Rice and
Louis Holt also worked walks.
The red-and-gray threw five pitchers as starter
Mitchell Szczygiel went two full innings without giving up a single hit or run before getting pulled early in the third after allowing the game's first run.
Henderson St. (28-19, 19-11) will return to Arkadelphia before heading across the street for its final GAC series against Ouachita Baptist at Rab Rogers Field beginning Friday, Apr. 28 at 3 p.m.
The Reddies out-hit the Red Wolves through the first two innings, claiming their total two hits in the second innings while ASU was held hitless in the same amount of time. A-State wouild take advantage of those two stranded Reddie base runners in the third, however, putting up a four-spot off three hits.
Arkansas State ratteld off anothe five runs in the home-half of the fourth as Henderson was only able to land two more base runners the rest of the game. With the score 9-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, a one-out RBI single from ASU scored the winning run as play was retired early.  Â
