RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –
Trinity Sharp is named the GAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season after helping Henderson State finish 4-0 in the Bettye Wallace Invitational. This is the first time the junior from Springdale, Arkansas has earned this award in her three seasons with the red-and-gray.

Sharp led the team and league over the weekend with 6.2 digs per set for a total of 62 across ten frames during the invitational. This season, the Springdale, Arkansas native leads the team with 110 digs and is averaging a conference-best 5.00 digs per set. Â

The junior libero began the tournament with 18 digs in a 3-0 win over West Alabama before recording 30 in a four-set victory against Southwest Baptist the following match. On the second day, Sharp tallied eight digs in a sweep over Western New Mexico, followed by six digs in one set against Lane College on day three.

Henderson State (6-2, 0-0) begins GAC action with the Battle of the Ravine on Tuesday, Sept. 12 Â at 6 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist inside the Sturgis Physical Education Center.
