Reddies Win Four-Set Thriller Versus Savage Storm

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State Volleyball bounces back from a close match versus East Central to defeat Southeastern 3-1 at home behind a strong attack.
 
Led by a balanced outing from senior Christiane Uzoh and junior Katilyn Steffes the duo combined for 39 of the team's 65 kills. The Reddies defense showed up totaling eight blocks and 94 digs. The Reddies earned their third conference victory against the Savage Storm who came into the night ranked ahead of the Reddies in the standings.
 
The Reddies started hot scoring the first five points of the match and never looked back. Senior Madison Hatt assisted on nine points in the set and two aces. Hatt surpassed the 2,000-career assist mark on the night with a season high and match high 33 assists. The Reddies rolled in the set rallying six points straight to stretch the lead to 10. The match ended with a 25-17 victory for Henderson State.

The second set was highlighted by Steffes's eight kills to add to her team high of 22 points. The Reddies trio of Uzoh, Steffes, and Savannah Coats combined for a .258 attack percentage on the night. The set went back and forth before the Reddies pulled away late with three straight points to win 25-21.
 
In the third set the Savage Storm gained momentum and battled thanks to Ruthie Forson dominating from the setter position. The Savage Storm pulled away and won the set 25-20.
 
In the final set the Reddies showed their grit in a back-and-forth set. Late in the set the Reddies rallied off six straight points after trailing by one. Uzoh who was dominate all night carried the Reddies to a 25-20 victory with her six kills in the set.
 
Henderson State Volleyball will finish their three-game home stand Tuesday versus Lane College at 6:30 p.m.
