Henderson State Volleyball Topples Arkansas Tech in Four Sets

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies defeat the Golden Suns in dominant fashion at home with a 3-1 victory to avenge their previous match up versus Arkansas Tech.

After a deflating loss at Arkansas Tech earlier in the season the Reddies came out strong, taking the first two sets in the match. Led by a .516 attack percentage in the second send the Reddies dominated the net with efficiency from Katilyn Steffes, Larkin Luke and Cassidi Campbell. The three combined for a .423 attack percentage while leading the Reddies to one of their biggest wins of the season.

A handful of runs in the first set including a six-point run propelled the Reddies to defeat the Golden Suns 25-23. Once again Kaylon Partain showed off her excellent defense with a match high 24 digs alongside five assists and two aces.

The second set was as strong as the Reddies have looked all season posting a .516 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set. The duo of Steffes and Savannah Coats led the team with 32 combined kills. The Reddies won the set handedly 25-12.

In a nail biter of a third set the Reddies fell 25-23 after trailing 24-20.

The fourth set was all gas for the Reddies as they won the set 25-16. In a back and forth set the Reddies stayed strong thanks to an eight-point run to finish the set and seal the match for the Reddies. Steffes finished the set with two aces and the help of a Coats kill to cap off the win.

The victory moved the Reddies into the eighth spot in the conference meaning they are eligible for the Great American Conference tournament.

Henderson State Volleyball is back in action on Monday November 4 at 6:30 p.m. versus Southern Arkansas as they look to widen the gap for a spot in the GAC tournament.
