ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies return home for home opener to face Champion Christian after splitting their two games in the 2024 Central Region Challenge.
 
The Reddies went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the nation to open their season. Coach Jimmy Elgas and his squad battled against #4 Minnesota State Moorhead before falling by just five points in the final minute of the game. The Reddies returned on the second day of the tournament to lead for almost the entirety of the game versus Winona State. A 21-point outing from transfer Deazhon Perkins helped capture the team's first win of the season.
 
Champion Christian enters the night 1-1 following a victory versus Pensacola Christian College. The Tigers dropped their first game of the season to Arkansas Baptist. The Tigers have played thee Division I teams including UTRGV, UAPB, and ULM, all losses. The Tigers KJ Younge scored 25 points versus UTRGV on 5-12 shooting from deep. Last season the Tigers lost in the NCCAA SW Region Championship to Arlington Baptist University in overtime, 83-80.
 
In the win versus Winona State the Reddies entire starting lineup had a positive +/-. Starting center Nehikhare Igiehon scored 14 points on 6-7 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds. Off the bench Perkins is the Reddies leading scorer at 13 ppg. On 12-15 shooting from the field on the season. The Reddies currently have four players averaging 10 or more ppg.

Deazhon Perkins is averaging 13 ppg going into tomorrow's contest while also posting four steals through two games.
 
Matthew Mayes is second on the team in points, first in steals, and first in free-throws attempted.
 
The Reddies tip off tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center for their first home game of the 2024-25 season.
