RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.  -  More than 30 members of Henderson State's football program were recognized as a part of the 2024 Great American Conference Football Awards released this week. Eleven different players received selections to All-GAC teams, while 24 Reddies earned academic honors.

Henderson's All-GAC First Team selections included wide receiver Timieone Jackson, tight end Cayden Davis, offensive lineman Brandon Bishop, and outside linebacker Gary Lewis.

Jackson led the league with 55 receptions - 12 more than any other player - and finished in the top five with 466 receiving yards. Davis led all GAC pass catchers with six receiving touchdowns and had the highest yards per catch average of any player with at least 20 receptions (19.5).

Bishop appeared in all 11 games this season and was on the line for 656 offensive plays, grading out at 87% for the year and tallying 27 knockdowns in the process.

Lewis paced the conference with 1.69 tackles for loss per game and, despite playing only eight games, finished third overall in the GAC with 13.5 total tackles for loss.

Quarterback Andrew Edwards, running back Jeremiah Davis, defensive end Jakobe Shell, cornerback Cameron Thomas, and punter Axel Robertson were named to the All-GAC Second Team.

Edwards topped the Great American Conference in completions (207), passing yards (2,539), passing touchdowns (27), and quarterback efficiency rating (156.9). He was also named to the GAC Academic Honor Roll.

Davis was amongst the league's top five rushers in yards per game (70.6), and he also finished on the top 10 leaderboard for both total rushing yards (706) and rushing touchdowns (nine).

Jakobe Shell had the second-most sacks (seven) in the GAC and was also tied for fifth-most tackles for loss (12).

Thomas was one of only four players in the conference to record five or more interceptions in 2024.

Robertson posted a punt average of 43.3 yards per attempt, which was ranked third in the league and 13th in NCAA Division II.

Return specialist Jody Easter and linebacker Jordan Owens received All-GAC Third Team nods.

Easter was the only player in the GAC to return multiple kickoffs for touchdowns, with each scoring return covering more than 90 yards apiece.

Owens finished this year's campaign with a team-best 55 tackles as well as six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. 

Daymon Burns and Ryan Vollmer were two of only 15 players in the conference to receive the GAC Elite Scholar Student-Athlete Award.

HSU's GAC Academic Honor Roll honorees included Devon Adams, Braden Arnold, Layton Bass, Colton Brunke-Brown, Julian Clarke, Clifton Cooper, Josh Doyle, Cameron Galliher, Quinton Hall, Ryan Hampton, Gabe Hernandez, Kolby King, Jackson Miller, Josh Murray, Robert Rogero, Quintlyn Rogers, Blaise Smith, Kenan Sneed, Keegan Stinespring, Eric Thibodeaux, and Braylen Thomas.
