2024 GENE UPSHAW DII LINEMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD NOMINEES
MANHEIM, Pa. — Henderson State senior offensive tackle Brandon Bishop has been nominated for the 2024 Gene Upshaw Award, given to the Lineman of the Year in NCAA Division II football.
A native of Sherwood, Arkansas and graduate of Central Arkansas Christian School, Bishop started all 11 games for the Reddies at tackle this season and compiled 34 starts in his career at Henderson State.Â
This fall, Bishop graded out at 87% across 656 plays on the offensive line and recorded 27 knockdown blocks. He was named to the 2024 All-Great American Conference First Team — one of just four Reddie players to earn First Team distinction. He is one of 11 nominees from Super Region 3 and one of just three from the GAC.Â
The Gene Upshaw Lineman of the Year Award is nominated and voted on by NCAA Division II sports information directors. Two finalists from each of the four super regions will advance to the national ballot. The eight national finalists will be announced on Dec. 4 and the winner of the award will be announced on Dec. 12.
Nominees for the Gene Upshaw Award must be seniors or graduate students and linemen on either side of the ball.Â
