CLEVELAND, Miss.  -  Henderson State's Kiara Pozvai has been named the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference (NSISC) Women's Swimmer of the Month for October 2024.
During the month of October, Pozvai posted NCAA Division II B-cut times on three separate occasions. The Keszthely, Hungary, native earned the first of these cuts with a first-place, 51.21-second performance in the 100 Yard Freestyle event during the Red Wave's meet against Oklahoma Christian. Later in the month, she bested her own previous effort by recording a winning time of 49.51 seconds in the 100 Yard Freestyle in a dual meet at Little Rock. This showing, along with a 22.70-second finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, gave her two national cuts for the night.
According to Swimcloud, Pozvai has posted the top individual performance of any women's competitor at each of the Red Wave's last four meets. In addition to the aforementioned B-cuts, these performances include a victorious 52.6-second swim in the 100 Yard Freestyle at the 61st Annual Hendrix Relays as well as a 23.88-second time in 50 Yard Freestyle versus Texas Permian Basin.
The senior Pozvai and her teammates will host their first conference meet of the season on Friday, when Ouachita Baptist makes the short trip across Arkansas Highway 7 for a Battle of the Ravine showdown. Races are set to begin at 5:00 p.m. at Wells Natatorium.
