Reddies Surge Past Bulldogs on Senior Day

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  -  Henderson State celebrated Senior Day in style with a 35-17 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.

After SWOSU's Ethan McBee made a 33-yard field goal near the end of the first quarter, the Reddies took the lead with a 39-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Edwards to Cayden Davis. The score would hold at 7-3 in favor of HSU heading into the halftime break. Henderson scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter, including two touchdown passes from Edwards and a rushing touchdown by Elijah Naziruddin. The Bulldogs outscored the Reddies 14-7 in the fourth to provide the game with its final result.

Edwards completed 17 of his 22 pass attempts for 302 yards and four touchdowns. It was Edwards' second game with 300 or more passing yards this year, and it was also his sixth consecutive game without an interception thrown.

Davis led the Reddies with 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just three receptions. His second score of the day was a 31-yard touchdown catch in the first five minutes of the second half.

Timieone Jackson continued to bolster his GAC-leading reception total for four catches that went for 54 yards.

Robbie Williams III hauled in three passes for 47 yards and a score on his Senior Day. He posted the Reddies final touchdown of the game on a 32-yard pass from Edwards.

Senior Jalen Abraham totaled more than 100 yards of total offense at the running back position, including 84 yards on the ground. His lone catch of the day resulted in a 31-yard touchdown.

On defense, Jamarion Citizen led the way with a career-high nine tackles and a tackle for loss. Aiden Ramirez and Cameron Thomas also made solo stops behind the line of scrimmage.

In coverage, the senior Thomas also recorded his fifth interception of the season, putting him in second place on the conference leaderboard in that category.

Josh Doyle forced a fumble that was recovered by Leo Morris. Halid Djibril - another Senior Day honoree - had a forced fumble and eight tackles. Djibril was tied with Jordan Batts for the second-most tackles by a Reddie player on Saturday.

Jordan Owens and senior Derriun Thompson teamed up for a sack in the second quarter.

Axel Robertson took on both punting and kicking duties for HSU. The senior averaged more than 43 yards per punt while going a perfect five-for-five on PATs.

With Senior Day now in the rearview mirror, only one game remans on Henderson's regular season schedule: the 97th Battle of the Ravine. The Reddies' long-awaited showdown with Ouachita Baptist is slated for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, November 16, at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.
