RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.  -  Henderson State Volleyball (7-3, 0-1) started the conference portion of its 2024 schedule with a 3-0 loss at Arkansas Tech (4-5, 1-0) in the GAC opener on Tuesday.

After trailing 14-9 early in the first set, the Golden Suns scored eight unanswered points to claim a lead they would never relinquish. Following a 25-21 set one win, ATU outscored the Reddies 50-31 in the final two sets to secure a sweep. Savannah Meyer (11) and Henley Hooks (10) both recorded double-digit kills for an Arkansas Tech team that finished the night with a combined .324 hitting percentage. 

Christiane Uzoh and Katilyn Steffes led a quiet night for the Reddies' offensive attack with four kills apiece. Steffes paced the team with eight total points.

Reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week Kaylon Partain collected 13 of HSU's 37 digs on defense. Steffes and Cassidi Campbell had two block assists each.

The Reddies will look to bounce back this weekend at the Pitt State Regional Challenge. Their first match of the tournament is against Emporia State on Friday, September 20, at 11:30 a.m. in Pittsburg, Kansas.
