Reddies Ring in the New Year with a Win

MONTICELLO, Ark.  -  Henderson State started out 2025 on the right foot with a 70-51 road win at Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday. The Reddies have now won three of their last four contests, including two road victories.

HSU opened the game on an 8-0 scoring run and never looked back. The Reddies outscored the hosting Blossoms by double-digits in both the first and second quarters before winning the third quarter by a scoring margin of 20-16. UAM managed to cut the deficit to 19 in the final quarter of play to provide the final result.

Henderson held its opponent under 30 percent shooting from the floor for the game. On the flip side, the Reddies shot nearly 44 percent from three-point range in the victory.

Brynlee Huggins posted a career-high 27 points on Saturday, reaching the 20-point mark for a second consecutive game and the fourth time this season. She added five more three-pointers to bring her GAC-leading season total to 37. The junior from Pangburn, Arkansas, also paced the team with five steals.

Klowie Pike put up 11 points - her highest total since joining the Reddies and NCAA Division II. The sophomore has now recorded back-to-back outings with double-digit point totals.

Sam Basson also set a new personal best with a career-high seven assists in the win. Her 10 points made her the third and final Reddie to reach double digits.

Bobbi Bazzle collected a game-best 11 rebounds, marking the third time that senior has tallied 10 or more rebounds in a game during the 2024-25 campaign.

Following Saturday's victorious effort, HSU will return to the Duke Wells Center to host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, January 9. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
