Four in a Row: Reddies Win Battle for the Belt

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Henderson State women's golf won its fourth consecutive Battle for the Belt title Tuesday at Hot Springs Country Club, its first win of the 2025-26 season. The Reddies finished with a team score of 31-over par, 12 shots ahead of second-place Harding.

Senior Paulina Narvaez edged out teammate Lily Nelson to take home medalist honors. Narvaez finished the tournament at even par, due in large part to a second-round 68. The four-under-par round was the best individual round by any player in the tournament. Narvaez finished with rounds of 75, 68, and 73 in the two-day event.

Nelson provided another steady lead for the Reddies, finishing just a stroke behind Narvaez at 1-over par. The senior posted rounds of 71, 74, and 72 for the tournament and finished five strokes ahead of the next closest competitor. The highlight of Nelson's tournament came in Tuesday's third round, where she eagled the par-four second hole.

Hailey Coleman had an up-and-down first tournament as a Reddie, finishing the event with rounds of 81, 73, and 77. The senior finished in 15th place individually, and her round was highlighted by playing even par in her final 14 holes in Tuesday's third round.

Freshman Lora Jones had the fourth-best score for the Reddies over the 54-hole event and finished in 19th place individually. Jones finished with rounds of 75, 76, and 82.

Isabella Ferreira and Ayers Finley rounded out the scoring for HSU. Ferreira turned in scores of 79, 77, and 83. Finley, competing as an individual, shot rounds of 83, 79, and 87.

The Battle for the Belt was the final tournament for the Reddies in the fall portion of their season. They return to action on February 16th and 17th in Spring, Texas as participants in the University of Central Oklahoma's Spring Invite.
