Reddies Rout Rangers

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson faced off the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State tonight during the Pink Out, sweeping the match 3-0.

"I liked the way we finished tonight" said Coach McDaniel, "We got off to a slow start, but were able to refocus, and when we do, we're tough at home. Now we're getting ready for tomorrow night."

The Reddies had a slow start, but were able to rally, and had a strong performance. Offensively, they were led by Katilyn Steffes, who led the team with 21 kills, while Savannah Coats followed with nine. Tyhia Mack continues to lead the team in assists, as she added 20 tonight, while Skylar Holler followed with nine. Berkeley Berry continues to lead the team in service aces, as she added two to her total tonight, while Kaylon Partain added three. On the defensive side, Partain continues to be excellent, adding 14 digs to her total, and Tyhia Mack followed with nine on the night. At the net, Cassidi Campbell collected six blocks, while Rylee Smith added two tonight.

Match Recap
The first set started off with pressure from the Rangers as they used a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 lead, and the Reddies took a timeout. Northwestern made it a 7-0 run before the Reddies stopped their push. The Reddies stayed in it, pushing the score to 13-7 before three straight kills by Steffes forced a timeout from the Rangers. Three more kills by Steffes added to the 8-0 run that gave the Reddies a 16-14 lead. A kill by Battles pushed the lead to 19-16 before Northwestern took another timeout. The Rangers pushed the score to 21-20, before a 3-0 run made it set point for the Reddies. While Northwestern was able to score two more points, Steffes gave the Reddies one last kill to win the set 25-22.

The Rangers came out swinging in the second set, once again taking an early lead 6-2. A service ace by Berry aided in the Reddies narrowing the lead to 7-5, but the Rangers kept up the pressure pulling further ahead 12-7. The Reddies refused to quit, and some key points by Steffes and Campbell brought the Reddies to within one, 16-15. Two more points by the Rangers forced Henderson to take a timeout, and two more points gave Northwestern a 20-15 lead. The Reddies rallied, using a 4-0 run to bring the score to 20-19. While the Rangers were able to hold the lead 22-20, the Reddies used a 5-0 run to secure the second set, 25-22.

In the final set, it was all Henderson State. Three service aces by Partain, four blocks by Campbell, and two kills by Savannah Coats aided in an incredible 17-0 run to hold the score at 18-2. The Rangers tried to stay in it, as they were able to bring the score to 23-13 before Coats made it set point with a kill. Northwestern scored only one more point, and were unable to catch up on that incredible lead and Lasheena Gooseberry's kill secured the match for the Reddies 25-14.
