CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Reddies went on the road this weekend to face the Hillcats of Rogers State, ultimately winning 75-59.
The Reddies (4-0, 0-0) were led today by
Natalie Cardenas, who scored 27 points, shooting 40.0 percent from the floor, and 75.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Brynlee Huggins followed with 19 points, shooting 8-19 from the field and 50 percent from the three.
Grayson Fairless continues to contribute in the paint, as she collected 16 rebounds to go with 14 points as she earned her first double-double as a Reddie. Huggins provided five rebounds to rank second on the team.
Sam Basson led the team, providing five assists, while
Riley Samples provided three.

The Reddies jumped out in front early in the first quarter, leading 5-2 early, before the Hillcats tied it 5-5 with 5:24 left in the first. The Reddies extended their lead, before a scoring run by Rogers State gave them a 14-10 lead. Huggins and Fairless both contributed five points to lead the Reddies, with the team shooting 26.3 percent from the field, as the Hillcats held a 17-15 lead after the first.
The Hillcats began the second quarter with six unanswered points to push their lead to 23-15. While the Reddies continued to battle, the Hillcats held off any kind of comeback, as they led 30-19 with 3:40 left in the half. Huggins led the Reddies with six points, including the only three made in the quarter, as Rogers State led 34-29 going into the half.
Coming out of the half, both teams continued to score, as each point scored by the Reddies was matched by the Hillcats. With 6:34 left in the third, Fairless scored a layup to begin the offensive surge for the Reddies, as they took a 42-41 lead with 3:27 left. The Reddies continued their offensive surge, as they outscored Rogers State 23-11 on 50.0 percent shooting, holding the lead 52-45.
In the final quarter, the Reddies kept pressing, scoring seven straight points to extend their lead 59-45. The defense held, as the Reddies held Rogers State to only 14 points on 30.8 percent shooting, while Henderson State scored 23 points, shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. Cardenas led the scoring for the Reddies, providing nine points to their total, as Henderson State won the game 75-59.
