Reddies Set to Open Conference Play Against Southeastern

2025-26 Men's Basketball Game Notes

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State will open GAC conference play with the first of three consecutive home games Thursday. The Reddies will face the Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm at 7:30 p.m.

HSU comes into the game with a 3-3 overall record and has won three of its last four games, including home victories over Champion Christian and Lyon and a road win last Saturday at Christian Brothers.

The Reddies currently lead the league in scoring offense, averaging over 89 points per game. Four different players are scoring in double-digits, led by defending GAC Offensive Player of the Week Zaveion Okoh, who is second-best in the conference with 20.7 points per game.

Henderson is also efficient with the ball, shooting 51 percent from the field as a team. Seven of the nine HSU players with at least 25 shots shoot better than 50 percent from the floor. Many of those points are attributed to transition baskets; the team forces 16.8 turnovers per game and scores 24.2 points per game off of those forced turnovers.

Scouting Southeastern Oklahoma

Southeastern Oklahoma State is 1-5 through their first six games, its worst start since the 2017-18 season. The Savage Storm have endured a difficult schedule, facing off with nationally ranked St. Mary's and NSIC division favorite Minnesota-Duluth.

SEOSU's defense has struggled, currently sitting last in the GAC with 83.2 points allowed per game. Their strength, however, rests in their three-point shooting. The Savage Storm are consistently one of the best teams in the league in three pointers made, and this season is no different. The team has made 68 threes through six games this season.

Southeastern is led offensively by the three-pronged attack of Santiago Camacho Gomez, Ethan Scott, and Deondre Dunn. The trio each averages 11 points or better, with Camacho Gomez leading the team with 11.7 ppg. As a team, SEOSU turns the ball over 14 times per game and allows 17.7 points off turnovers.
