Joel Worthington and his squad earn their first and second GAC wins of the 2025 season, defeating Southeastern 4-0, 8-6.

The Reddies picked up a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon behind a shutout effort in the first game and hot bats in the second game.

Starting at noon the Reddies got off to a red-hot start to begin the game. Leadoff hitter
Justine Burch got the Reddies going in the first inning with a
home run off the scoreboard. Burch connected on her first home run of the season, adding to her electric start to begin the year. Burch is currently batting .370 and posting a .455 On Base Percentage. Burch went 3-7 on the day and added three of the 12 total runs between the two games.

Mackenzie Williams continued her dominance at the plate in the first game. Williams went 2-3 with a double and brought in a run, scoring two herself.

In the circle for the Reddies
Brooke Johnson (2-0) got the start. Johnson went five innings, allowed just three hits, and held the Savage Storm scoreless.
Presley Applegate closed it out for HSU, pitching two innings, allowing just one hit.

In the second game
Jersey Cabana (4-0) entered the circle for HSU. Cabana went three innings, allowing four hits and a walk.
Meagan Allen (1-0) entered in relief for Cabana, holding the Savage Storm offense to just two runs while striking out two. Applegate (S, 2) entered for the save in the seventh inning, faced three batters, struck out one and earned the save.

The Reddie bats came to life in the second game of the series. Six different batters recorded a hit,
Hilary Akers led all players in total hits with three. Akers went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and two runs herself. Akers gave the Reddies some cushion going into the seventh inning thanks to a
solo home run to extend the lead to two.

With the win the Reddies clinched a series win for the first time since 2017 when the Reddies took three of four at home. A win tomorrow would be the first series sweep for the Reddies in the history of the GAC.

HSU will look to complete the series sweep against Southeastern tomorrow at 12 p.m. at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia.
