WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Henderson State fell just short of victory in a 64-60 loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Reddies bested the Bulldogs in both the first and second quarters, leading to an eight-point advantage for HSU at halftime. By the end of the third period, that lead had shrunk to a single point and, in the final quarter of play, SWOSU outscored Henderson 18-13 to secure a home win at the Pioneer Event Center.
Natalie Cardenas once again paced the Reddies in scoring by posting 14 points. She added a block and two steals on defense.
Sam Basson also reached double figures by tallying 11 points and going three-of-six from three-point range.
Klowie Pike led the team with seven rebounds and held a share of the HSU lead for assists (tied with Cardenas at three).
Next week, the Reddies will head back to Arkadelphia to make their shortest road trip of the season in this year's second edition of Battle of the Ravine. Tip-off at Ouachita's Bill Vining Arena is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13.
