ALVA, Okla. — Northwestern Oklahoma State got the better of Henderson State's pitching staff on Friday night as the Rangers scored 13 runs on 19 hits to defeat the Reddies 13-3 in the series opener.
The Reddies (21-18, 14-11) scored in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead, but it was their only advantage of the night, as NWOSUÂ (27-14, 14-11) scored two or more runs in the second, third, fifth, seventh and eighth innings to run away for the victory. The Rangers hit five home runs in the game, with drove in nine of their 13 runs.
Offensively, Henderson was limited to six hits — three of which came from Luke Rice, who finished 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and all three RBIs for HSU.
Henderson will look to bounce back tomorrow at 12 p.m. when the two teams meet again for a doubleheader in Alva, Oklahoma.
