Keeton's Gem, Copeland's Homer Help Reddies Sweep Doubleheader with NWOSU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark – Henderson State kept their win streak alive in emphatic fashion, as Josie Copeland walked off game two with a 3-run homerun. 
 
In game 1 the Reddies took the lead and never looked back. Josie Copeland singled down the third base line driving in Hilary Akers. This was the first of Copeland's three hits in game one. From there it was the Makenna Keeton show, as she went six innings, giving up three hits and one earned run, while striking out four.

Makenna Denofrio drove in what would be the winning run in the 4th, the Reddies would tack on two more insurance runs in the 5th. Presley Applegate came in and slammed the door shut, as Henderson would go on to win 4-1. 
 
In game two it was a battle of attrition as there were a combined 29 hits and 21 runs scored. It was the last three runs that proved to be vital, as Josie Copeland crushed a 3-run homerun to walk it off.

The Reddies trailed 9-5 entering the bottom of the fifth, that was until Justine Burch singled to center to drive in two.

Trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the 7th, Macy Hoskins came up with a clutch sac fly, and then Copeland stole the show with her homerun.

Makenna Keeton came in and pitched the final two and two thirds innings, picking up her second win on the day. Hilary Akers came into the game batting a solid .381, she would go on to raise that average as she went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. 
 
The Reddies will be back in action tomorrow starting at 12:15 p.m. to wrap up the three game series.

Tomorrow will also be senior day, the ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the series already secured, the Reddies will look for their third GAC series sweep of the year.
