Hilary Akers Walks it Off in Extra Innings, Reddies Clinch Series Win Over Arkansas Tech

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies earn their first series win versus Golden Suns since 2015, Akers drives in four RBIs and delivers walk off hit in second game of the doubleheader.

The Reddies outscored the Golden Suns 12-3 with an 8-0 victory in game one and a 4-3 win in nine innings in the second game.

Makenna Keeton (4-6) was nearly unhittable in the circle in her start, allowing just one hit over six innings while striking out five as Henderson State cruised to an 8-0 run-rule victory.
The Reddies' offense backed Keeton up, plating eight runs on 12 hits. Brooke Johnson delivered the knockout hit with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth.

Hilary Akers got the scoring started in the fourth with an RBI single, followed by a triple from Justine Burch that brought in two more. Henderson State piled on in the later innings, with Raylee Carey, Jay Albiter, and Johnson all delivering run-scoring hits to put the game out of reach.

The second game of the day was silent for the Reddies until the bottom of the seventh inning. Akers tied the game in the seventh with a three-run homer to force extras and then came through in the ninth, with a bloop single to right field to score Jordyn Holland for the game-winning run.

Presley Applegate (4-1) earned the win in relief, tossing four scoreless innings while not allowing a single hit and striking out five.

With the doubleheader sweep the Reddies earned their second conference series win of the season and first versus Arkansas Tech in nearly a decade.

The Reddies look to earn their second series sweep of the year tomorrow at 1 p.m. versus Arkansas Tech.
