Reddies Tame the Tigers, Claim Series Finale with 10-6 Victory

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State powers past Ouachita Baptist in the series finale Wednesday night, securing a 10-6 victory at Langston Field.

The Reddies (21-19, 9-15 GAC) rallied after an early deficit, using clutch hitting and a strong performance from the bullpen to tame the Tigers (16-28, 7-17 GAC).

The Tigers drew first blood in the series finale, but Henderson State immediately responded with a RBI double from Raylee Carey, scoring Josie Copeland. The Reddies kept their foot on the gas, plating three runs in the top of the third inning,

A strong five-run third inning from the Tigers had the Reddies trailing 6-4 going into the top of the fourth. Henderson State stormed back, scoring six unanswered runs to seal the win. Hilary Akers led the charge, launching a two-run homer in the third inning, while Jay Albiter and Carey each contributed multi-hit performances to keep the offense rolling.

Presley Applegate (5-1) entered in relief and silenced the Tigers' bats, tossing five innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. Her dominance on the mound halted Ouachita's momentum after a five-run third inning, allowing the Reddies to complete the comeback.

Henderson State put the game away with a three-run sixth inning, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues by Ouachita. Albiter continued her big day from the plate with a double to left center which scored Josie Golden. Albiter batted 2-4, both hits being doubles and knocked in two runs.

A wild pitch and an a later error allowed Williams and Albiter to both score, giving the Reddies a comfortable three-run lead heading into the final frame.

The Reddies' defense locked down the seventh inning, with Applegate closing the door with a strikeout and a pair of outs off the bat. Akers applied the tag at third to secure the victory and the series finale win.

The Reddies quickly turn to another important GAC series versus Northwestern beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m.
